Abstract:
In comparison to traditional security systems, smart security systems provide a number of important benefits. It is possible for educational institutions to connect intelligent technology with physical infrastructure when they use a smart security system in universities. This results in enhanced services, decision-making, campus sustainability, and other areas.
Our initiative, known as the Smart Campus Surveillance-Based Guidance System, is intended to assist educational institutions in gaining access to more advanced surveillance technology so that they can direct students to the appropriate classrooms. It will aid with monitoring students as they move around campus and will also be of assistance to students in the classes in which they are enrolled.
Python is used in both the front end (which consists of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and the back end (which consists of Python) of this project. MySQL is what is utilized as the database. Django is the framework that is being utilized.
This project, which is written in Python, intends to make the university and its surrounding areas safer. It just consists of a single module, which allows the administrator to control everything about the system. The administrator is required to enter data into the system by hand. They are required to provide all relevant class information, such as the wing and floor of the building on which the class is held as well as the route to take to get there. Additionally, in order to effectively manage the kids and provide assistance to them, they need to incorporate class and break periods.
After that, the administrator is responsible for entering information on the students, including their photographs, and assigning them to the appropriate classes. Additionally, the administrator has to include specifics about each camera that is installed around the campus, such as the wing and floor where each camera is located.
The administrator must first decide which camera they wish to inspect before beginning the monitoring. If the camera manages to take a picture of a student when they are outside of the classroom, it will be able to identify the student’s face, and the system will check their enrollment information. If the student is not on the same floor or wing as their class, the system will utilize the speaker to read the directions out loud to them. This only happens if the student is on a different floor than their class.
The system will verify the student’s class and break times, and if they are on the same floor or wing as their class, it will ask them to return to their class while giving out their class directions via the speaker. If the student is not on the same floor or wing as their class, the system will not check these timings. The administrator has access to the student logs that are stored in the surveillance system.
Since the camera is in a predetermined position, we won’t be able to provide directions using GPS or interior navigation software. We also won’t be able to navigate a classroom since we won’t know where students are in real time.
