Abstract:

The hardest part is generating accurate commutation to start the PMBLDC motor in position sensorless control mode. This article presents a peak current detection starting algorithm-based wide speed range position sensorless control for solar photovoltaic array-fed PMBLDC motor drive irrigation water pumping.

The starting algorithm controls peak starting current and accurate starting commutation. For agricultural use, eliminating position and current sensors for rotor position estimation makes the drive compact and cost-effective.

Simulation tests the drive’s functioning, and the laboratory prototype and compact industrial product prototype with cost-effective digital signal processor test its reliability. The system’s robustness is tested with simulation and test results under varied operating situations. The compact, low-cost irrigation and household water pumping solution is ideal.
