Mobile Computing Projects

Abstract:

Edge computing dominates networking research. Processing demand has skyrocketed as data analytics-based mobile apps proliferate. Edge networks (EN), a wireless ad-hoc network of mobile cloudlets, vehicular cloudlets, dedicated edge devices, and cloud platforms, can help meet this processing demand.

Device owners and service providers vary. We propose a distributed incentive mechanism for an EN without a trusted third party (TTP). In a multihop EN, a user offloads tasks to neighboring nodes, which may offload them to their neighbors or the cloud.

Our computationally efficient scheme helps nodes choose incentives and workload distribution. We simulated different scenarios, including untruthful nodes, to test our scheme.

Results show that multi hop offloading reduces node workload and discourages untruthful behavior. Our partially distributed incentive mechanism was compared to our fully distributed scheme.
