Abstract:

MCC is promoted to improve mobile users’ service experience. MCC offloads computation-intensive applications from smart mobile devices (SMDs) to the cloud, but it also increases cloud center computing and storage overhead and wireless link bandwidth overhead.

Therefore, we should carefully design the offloading policy to reduce overheads and SMD burdens. In heterogeneous wireless networks, we study offloading policy. This paper proposes a Lyapunov optimization framework to trade-off system offloading utility and queue backlog for mobile users’ workload offloading.

Lagrangian optimization is suggested for offloading workloads in deterministic WiFi connections. A multi-stage stochastic programming method is suggested for random WiFi connection durations. Lagrangian optimization offloading for deterministic WiFi connections and multi-stage stochastic programming for random WiFi connections work well in experiments.
