Abstract:
Evidence underpins both sides’ criminal case arguments. Evidence must be collected, preserved, and recorded during a crime investigation to establish the facts. The evidence’s value continues after the trial. Any skilled criminal defense lawyer knows that evidence must be kept for eternity to safeguard the accused’s due process rights.
Our Blockchain-based Evidence Protection System addresses evidence protection. A chain of limited users accountable for investigation has been proposed to optimize this system. Access is granted to achieve transparency and immutability.
Blockchain is a network of squares that store and track system activity. Evidence of idea executions, models, and application frameworks uses blockchain innovation. This DotNet system uses ASP.net for the backend and HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for the frontend. Visual Studio and MSSQL are used.
The admin can assign Forensic, Evidence Room, and Police roles to users. Searching evidence IDs reveals details. The log is visible. Blockchain technology will notify the admin of where the link is broken if evidence details don’t match, such as in the Evidence Room or Movement Level.
Logging in allows forensic staff to use the system. They can add, edit, delete, or view evidence details, date, time, and type. They can add Investigating Officer and Forensic Officer names and IDs.
Logging in allows Evidence Room staff to use the system. Evidence ID lets them find anything. They can add entrance and exit logs, item counts, sizes, information, etc. The Officer taking or storing evidence and the Evidence Room Officer must be listed. Search Evidence ID or date to view the log.
Police can log in with their credentials. Evidence ID lets them find anything. They can include movement logs, item count, size, details, etc. They must add source, destination, date, and time. The appointed Police Officer’s name and ID must also be added.
