Android Graphical Image Password Project

Abstract:

The Android Graphical Image Password Project, also known as the Picture Pattern Locking System, secures mobile devices in a novel way. This project lets users set a custom picture as their password from the device’s gallery or instantly. The selected picture is divided into nine parts and represented as a 3×3 pattern of scrambled cubes. The user must correctly order all nine cubes to authenticate. It’s like a puzzle.

Introduction:

Today, personal data security is crucial. Traditional PINs and passwords are easily compromised, allowing unauthorized access to sensitive data. The Android Graphical Image Password Project solves this problem with a simple image-based authentication method.

Objectives:

This project aims to make alphanumeric passwords safer and simpler. The Picture Pattern Locking System uses images to improve mobile device security and user experience.

Project Details:

The Android Graphical Image Password Project has several key parts:

Picture selection: Passwords can be pictures. They can choose an image from the device’s gallery or take one immediately. This makes the password more memorable and personal.

Picture Division: The chosen picture is divided into nine equal parts, forming a 3×3 cube pattern. Each cube represents part of the image. This division prevents the password from being guessed from the whole picture.

Scrambling: The 3×3 cubes are initially scrambled. Randomization complicates the authentication process, making it harder for unauthorized parties to replicate the sequence.

Authentication: Rearranging the scrambled cubes in the original picture’s row-wise order unlocks the device. The user must remember the correct order and select each cube. The correct sequence unlocks the device.

Custom pictures are stored securely in the device’s memory. The “User’s Full Name_Underline_User ID” (username_userid) folder stores them. This method keeps pictures private and easy to authenticate.

The Android Graphical Image Password Project lets you open a custom calculator or other app after authentication. This feature lets users quickly switch to their preferred app after unlocking their device.

Conclusion:

The Android Graphical Image Password Project (Picture Pattern Locking System) offers a novel and effective mobile device security solution. This project improves security and user experience by letting users set custom pictures as passwords and transforming them into 3×3 cubes. The Picture Pattern Locking System protects personal data with images and puzzle-solving. This project advances Android authentication security and usability with its intuitive interface and personalized approach.
