Person Identification Based On Teeth Recognition
Abstract:
The goal of the “Person Identification Based on Teeth Recognition” project is to create a system that can recognize people from images of their teeth. This system is implemented using MATLAB, and a database of dental image comparisons is used. To identify and extract features from the images of teeth, image processing techniques are used. To identify the user, the system compares the query image they supplied with the database’s stored values for the image of their teeth. The project uses powerful algorithms and similarity criteria in order to produce accurate results.
Introduction:
Facial recognition software or fingerprint scanners are frequently used in traditional methods of person identification. But in situations where these techniques are ineffective, like in forensic dentistry or when facial features aren’t visible, teeth recognition can be used as a substitute strategy. Teeth have distinctive qualities that can be used to identify someone. The goal of this project is to create a system that uses teeth recognition to efficiently and accurately identify people.
Objective:
The main objective of this project is to implement a teeth recognition system using image processing techniques and filtering methods. The system compares a person’s query image with a database of teeth images, extracting features and utilizing a similarity criterion to identify the person. The project aims to achieve accurate and reliable identification results.
Project Details:
A database of dental images is used in the project as a guide for identification. The images of the teeth are preprocessed to reduce noise and improve the data quality. To extract and store teeth image values in the database, image processing methodologies are used. An efficient algorithm and predetermined threshold value are used to compare the query image provided by the user with the values of the teeth image data that has been stored. The system uses a similarity criterion to find the closest match and recognizes the individual connected to the image of the teeth.
Conclusion:
A system that uses teeth images for person identification is presented in the project “Person Identification Based on Teeth Recognition.” The system compares query images with a database of teeth images and uses image processing, filtering, and an efficient algorithm to identify people accurately. The benefits of this method include its capacity for specific identification, non-invasiveness, and potential use in forensic dentistry. By providing a different approach based on teeth recognition, the project advances the field of biometric identification by increasing the options for person identification across a range of domains.
