Ecommerce Backend Security using Biometric Authentication

Abstract:

Data protection and access restriction require reliable person identification in today’s information-driven world. This article describes a biometric authentication-based ecommerce security project. Admin, Employee, and Manufacturer are project modules. Biometric registration and authentication secure and streamline ecommerce system operations in each module.

Introduction:

Security becomes more important as information technology use grows. Username and password authentication no longer protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access. Biometric authentication, which uses fingerprints or facial features for identification, is more secure and reliable.

Objective:

This project uses biometric authentication to secure an ecommerce backend. The project uses biometrics to identify people, secure data, and restrict access. The project’s three modules—Admin, Employee, and Manufacturer—serve specific roles in the ecommerce ecosystem.

Project Details:

  1. Admin Module:
    • Login using Biometrics: The admin can securely log into the system by authenticating their biometric information.
    • Manufacturer and Employee Registration: The admin can register manufacturers and employees by capturing their biometric data during the registration process.
    • Product Approval: The admin has the authority to approve products added by manufacturers, ensuring the integrity and quality of the offered products.
    • Order Details: The admin can view comprehensive order details, facilitating efficient management and tracking of sales.
  2. Employee Module:
    • Biometric Authentication: Employees can log into the system using their biometric credentials, ensuring secure access.
    • Order Details: Employees can view order details, enabling them to fulfill customer requests promptly.
    • Installation Request Acceptance: Employees have the ability to accept installation requests, streamlining the product installation process.
  3. Manufacturer Module:
    • Biometric Login: Manufacturers can access the system through biometric authentication, ensuring secure and restricted access.
    • Product Management: Manufacturers can manage their product catalog, add new products, and update existing ones.
    • Order and Delivery Tracking: Manufacturers can monitor orders and track product delivery and installation requests, ensuring smooth operations.

Advantages:

  • High Reliability: Biometric security systems offer reliable person identification, minimizing the risk of unauthorized access.
  • Enhanced Security: Biometric protection significantly reduces the likelihood of misuse, as biometric traits are unique and difficult to replicate.

Disadvantages:

  • Active Internet Connection: This application requires an active internet connection for seamless operation and real-time data synchronization.
  • Data Accuracy: Users must input correct data during registration and authentication to prevent system abnormalities and ensure accurate identification.

Conclusion:

Biometric authentication improves ecommerce backend security and person identification. Admin, Employee, and Manufacturer modules use biometrics to improve access control and operations. Biometric authentication’s robustness and security outweigh the system’s internet requirement. Ecommerce backend security using biometric authentication can protect data privacy and restrict access as information technology becomes more important.
