Abstract:

Salt-affected land cannot be farmed. Salt in the soil solution reduces the plant’s water absorption, slowing growth. Thus, salt segmentation locates salty land. Segmentation of salt deposits beneath the Earth’s surface, where seismic images classify pixels as salt or sediment.

This project segments salt-containing regions. UNET architecture segments. Select the important part from the input image. Keep only the important features from the region image.

UNET has two paths. The first path, contraction, captures image context. Transposed convolutions allow precise localization on the symmetric expanding path. This architecture can find salt segmentation from seismic data, then show the total salt region value.
