Abstract:
The government gives poor Indians food and fuel through the ration card. It helps update government records by giving people a unique identity. Government supplies rice, sugar, and wheat. Ration cards are vital identity documents.
People without Ration cards can apply for one. The ration card application process has been greatly facilitated, but now it is online, which is a blessing for applicants who hate waiting in lines to fill out the form and then return to the office to check the status. Ration shops across India provide food security. Food and fuel distribution is government-controlled.
It is very limited. Most ration shopkeepers carry fake cards. The ration shop dealer can falsify records and sell the items loosely because all ration items are available. The dealer does not give customers these rations. The shop’s items often go unnoticed.
The dealer sells them at higher prices. Thus, we have a transparency issue now. No good system exists to inform the government of grain usage by the people. Thus, we propose an RFID- and biometric-based e-ration card management system to replace traditional ration cards.
