Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker using OCR

Abstract:

To help users, especially the elderly population, manage their medication intake, the “Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker using OCR” project was created. The system enables users or their caregivers to enter medication reminders, including information about the color, name, and quantity of the tablet as well as the intended time of administration. The system speaks out the medication information and sends the user reminders. The system also provides cutting-edge features like the ability for doctors to enter patient medication information and facilitate personalized reminders. Utilizing optical character recognition (OCR) technology, the system enables users to take pictures of medications or extract text from labeled packaging. OCR is implemented by the system using the Mobile Vision API, which makes it simple for users to save medication information without having to manually type it in. This system offers a complete medical assistant solution and is a useful tool for people managing multiple medications.

Introduction:

It can be difficult to manage medication schedules and stick to recommended dosages, especially for the elderly population. This problem is being addressed by the Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker using OCR project, which offers a user-friendly system to help with medication management. The system makes it easier to record medication details, set reminders, and ensure timely and accurate intake by utilizing OCR technology and advanced features.

Objective:

The main goal of this project is to create a mobile-based system that assists users in managing their medication intake by acting as a trustworthy and user-friendly medical assistant. The system aims to offer practical features like personalized reminders from healthcare providers, medication details input using OCR, and medication reminders.

Project Details:

The system is designed with the following features:

  1. Medication Reminders: Users can input medication details, including tablet color, name, quantity, and scheduled intake time. The system provides reminders to the user, displaying and speaking out the medication details at the specified time.
  2. Doctor-Entered Medication Details: Healthcare providers can enter medication details on behalf of the user, ensuring accurate and personalized reminders. This feature facilitates collaboration between doctors and patients in managing medication intake.
  3. OCR Integration: Users can capture images of medication packaging or use OCR to extract text from labels. The system utilizes the Mobile Vision API to implement OCR, enabling users to save medication details conveniently without manual typing.
  4. User-Friendly Interface: The system offers an intuitive interface that allows users to easily enter and manage medication information. The reminders and medication details are presented in a clear and understandable format.

Conclusion:

An innovative approach is offered by the Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker using OCR project to help users, especially the elderly population, effectively manage their medication intake. The system streamlines medication administration and encourages adherence to recommended dosages by including features like medication reminders, OCR integration, and doctor-entered medication details. By providing a dependable and user-friendly medical assistant solution, this project seeks to improve the quality of life for people who rely on multiple medications.
