Image Processing Projects

Abstract:

Psychometric scaling quantifies perceptual experiences to understand the relationship between external stimulus, internal representation, and response.

This Image Processing project proposes a probabilistic framework to combine rating and pairwise comparison experiments.

This method can be used to merge subjective datasets and conduct experiments with both measurements.

We analyze and compare the time and accuracy of both types of experimental protocols in simulations and experiments with benchmark and real-world image quality assessment datasets, demonstrating the need for scaling and the benefits of each protocol and mixing. Our findings apply to any subjective quality-of-experience task.
