Abstract:

Dumb nodes degrade sensor-cloud system performance. This article considers dumb nodes in the sensor-cloud platform and proposes a dynamic pricing scheme. The literature on sensor-cloud pricing assumes a perfect environment with working sensor nodes.

The pricing model accounts for dumb nodes in sensor-cloud platforms. The dumb behavior of a sensor node is dynamic and depends on environmental conditions like heavy rainfall, high temperature, and fog. The dumb nodes behave normally without such environmental conditions. Dumb nodes cannot always be removed from sensor clouds.

Sensor-cloud charges the same for dumb nodes assigned to virtual sensors. Thus, a user pays the Sensor-Cloud Service Provider (SCSP) the normal dumb node price. Thus, dumb node sensor owners profit similarly to normal node sensor owners.

Thus, we propose DISCLOUD, a sensor-cloud dynamic pricing scheme with dumb nodes. We propose a sensor-cloud QoS scheme due to dumb nodes. DISCLOUD maximizes SCSP profit while considering end-user QoS-based price.
