Cloud Computing Projects

Abstract:

Security and privacy concerns prevent enterprises and users from adopting cloud computing and reaping its cost savings and business agility. Cloud services’ heterogeneity and dynamicity increase attack surfaces, causing these concerns.

Effective and flexible access control must consider the contextual parameters of cloud data access requests to address these concerns.

This work introduces PaaSword, a novel holistic access control framework—essentially a PaaS offering—that extends the popular XACML standard with semantic reasoning capabilities to support the federation of effective context-aware access control policies and their infusion into cloud applications with minimal manual intervention and effort.

Our solution is evaluated against the open-source WSO2 Balana engine, a reference implementation of the XACML standard, to determine its performance.
