Cloud Computing Projects

Abstract:

Mobile edge computing (MEC) is a promising method for resource-constrained mobile devices to offload tasks to nearby edge clouds. Most works only consider whether or where to offload the task, ignoring edge clouds’ motivations to provide service.

Edge clouds need an incentive mechanism that charges mobile devices and rewards them to provide services. This paper introduces a non-competitive incentive mechanism. We use a market-based profit maximization pricing model to link edge cloud resources to mobile device prices.

We solve the optimization problem to ensure resource provider profit and mobile device QoE. We also design a competitive online profit maximization multi-round auction (PMMRA) mechanism for edge clouds to sell resources to mobile devices.

The mechanism can determine buyers’ prices for sellers’ resources and match edge clouds and mobile devices. Numerical results show that the proposed mechanism maximizes edge cloud profit better than other algorithms.
